My genre is fiction and my work focuses on the immigrant experience and the success (or failure) of achieving the American Dream.

My literary inspirations are 19th and 20th Century authors Gustave Flaubert and Emile Zola whose works feature flawed female protagonists. I am also inspired by contemporary writers of color like Jessica Hagedorn and Lois-Ann Yamanaka and Junot Diaz whose works tackle class, race, prejudice, education, and economic disparity.

My work converts the themes of the middle class, modernity, women and economic independence through the lens of immigrant Filipino working class women who are small business owners looking to navigate their life’s path in America.
